UPSC Syllabus Prelims and Mains Examinations (UPSC Exam)

UPSC Syllabus (IAS Exam Syllabus): The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Exam Syllabus is divided into three categories, namely Preliminary, Mains and Interview subjects that should be studied for the Civil Services Exam. The Civil Services Preliminary exam comprises of two(Preliminary, Mains ) compulsory papers of 200 marks each (General Studies Paper – I and General Studies Paper- II).

The questions will be of multiple-choice, objective type categories available. The UPSC exam marks in prelims will not be counted for final ranking but just for qualification for the UPSC main exam.

➔ Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc(UPSC Paper – I).
➔ General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization(UPSC Paper – I).
➔ General Science(UPSC Paper – I).

➔ General mental ability(UPSC Paper – II).
➔ Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level)(UPSC Paper – II).

IAS Mains Syllabus

The commission publishes the list of shortlisted candidates for the main public service exam, based on performance and reservation. Approximately 1213 times the total number of seats will be shortlisted for the main exam. Applicants must understand that the main exam is the critical stage in the IAS selection process. In this phase, candidates are evaluated on various topics. The main exam consists of nine conventional (descriptive) assignments, two of which are qualifying.

 

UPSC Syllabus – Civil Services Mains Exam

A candidate’s ranking on the UPSC Public Service Exam depends only on the score obtained in the main and job interviews. The main exam has 1750 points and the interview 275 points. The written exam (main exam) consists of the following nine assignments, of which only 7 are counted for the final performance evaluation. For the remaining two jobs, the candidate must achieve the minimum number of points prescribed by UPSC each year.

 

IAS Mains Syllabus – Indian Language and English (Mains Syllabus)

➔ Usage and Vocabulary.
➔ Short Essays.

In the essay article, candidates may need to write essays on various topics. They are expected to stick closely to the topic of the essay, organise their ideas, and write them concisely. The effective and exact expression will be credited.
